Effects

Bulge

Pushes the picture outward or inward from the centre.

The Bulge node magnifies the middle of the frame, or shrinks it for negative values, with a soft falloff.

Bulge

  • One signed control, Amount
  • Found in the node graph under Post FX → Warp
Example patch — drag onto the app to load

The image on the right is the example patch itself. Drag and drop it onto the app, or load it with File → Load, to open the full graph. A Caustics field, run through a Gradient Colorizer, at the default of 0.

Inputs and outputs

Bulge node

PortTypePurpose
InputTextureThe picture to process.
OutputTextureThe result.

Parameters

Bulge parameters

Opacity, Blend Mode, and Alpha are the standard operator header; see Parameters and Controls.

  • Amount (−1 to 1, default 0) — positive bulges outward, negative pinches inward.

Every slider has a per-parameter animation bar, so it can be animated, audio driven, or MIDI mapped.

Examples

Pulse — drive Amount from a Sound modifier so the frame breathes with the bass.

Troubleshooting

You want to move the centre — Bulge is always centred. Use Pinch, which has Center X / Y and a radius.

Related

Pinch

The same idea with a movable centre.

Spherize

A full spherical projection.

Twirl

Rotates the picture around its centre by an amount that falls off with radius.

Pinch

Pulls the picture toward a movable point within a radius.
